Apply now →There’s a particular kind of momentum that comes from having a space that’s yours to think in. The Writer in Residence program offers selected writers reserved, quiet hours at the studio to move a writing project forward — a novel, a collection, a memoir, an essay series, or the thing you keep meaning to begin.
It’s also a relationship. Established writers mentor those earlier in their journey; emerging writers find guidance and accountability; and everyone helps tend the studio’s wider community of makers and readers. The residency is offered free to the writers we select, in a spirit of mutual exchange.

What we ask
- A minimum three-month commitment for the term
- One original blog article (500–1,000 words) about your project or residency, published on our site
- Light, genuine marketing support — at least one post or share per month — plus sharing your exclusive resident discount code
The details
- Term: September–November 2026 (first term). Future terms run seasonally.
- Cost: Free to selected writers.
- Where: Re-Kindle & Bloom Studio, Toronto.
- Applications close: August 15, 2026. We review on a rolling basis and reply by late August.
How to apply
- Complete the short online application and tell us about your project.
- We review applications as they arrive and follow up by late August.
- Selected writers sign a simple residency agreement and begin in September.
FAQ
Is the residency really free?
Yes. We don’t charge selected writers and we don’t pay a stipend — it’s an in-kind exchange. You receive space and support; you contribute a blog piece and gentle promotion.
How many residents do you take?
Our first cohort is small — one to two established and one to two emerging writers — so each person gets real space and attention.
What can I work on?
Any writing project — fiction, non-fiction, poetry, scripts, or hybrid work.
